NEW TREND: Goodbye shatter polish & Hello Magent pattern nails!

So if like me you never really have liked the shatter polish trend, there's a new trend in town - Magnet patterned nails!

How does this work I hear you ask.....well what you do is paint the nail polish on as normal, then hold a magnet (that you buy with the polish not just any old magnet LOL) which pushes tiny metal particles/powders thats in the polish away to create a different pattern over each nail....like magic! The geek in me finds these extremley interesting!

LCN at BeautyConcepts.co.uk do a range available now from £8.65 for the polish (8 different shades you can see HERE) and £7.55 for the magnets, which are 2 different designs - 'star' or 'diagnonal' you can see them HERE, OR if you're really into it you can buy the full start set for £67.15 which includes the magnets and all 8 shades of polish although this is currentley sold out so alot of people have obviously jumped the bandwagon already.

Also from mid sept Nails Inc Magnetic polish will be launching (rrp £12) these will be in shades - 'Big Ben' - A metallic gold, 'Trafalgar Square' - A metallic silver/chrome and 'Houses of Parliament' - A metallic purple/blue....what fantastic london themed names! PLUS Nails inc will have the magnet concealed in the lid of the polishes so you won't need to purchase a seperate one (and for all you drugstore/bargain lovers word is Revlon also are developing a line)

Who's going to be trying their hands at this? Before I try these my next task is 'water marbling' something I saw on Maryam Maquillage's blog...Check out that post on this pretty trend HERE. How fantastic is her 'Strawberry Love Swirls Forever' water marbling post! I pray mine turn out as fab!

Designer Nail wraps from Nail Rock - NAILS OF THE DAY (NOTD)

You may remember I did a post a while back on 'Nail Rock' nail wraps HERE (check it out for all the details of prices, retailers, designs, etc)

Well I 'Nail Rocked' finally, the 2 packs I have are the White Dots on Red and Purple Leopard skin

I chose to do the purple leopard ones first and in each pack you get 24 stickers (12 toes and 12 fingers) I just did my nails for now.

The whole concept of them is easy you just buff all your nails to remove shine, place the wrap at your cuticle, with a hairdryer warm up the wrap so its mouldable and then you stick it down to your nail, add abit more heat and firmly press down for a few seconds, then you just file off the excess and you're done.

To be honest my first hand looks pretty good the second is abit blah! That is because I got bored as it took longer than I thought and I have the attention span of a fly so I started to rush them, they still turned out ok though and that isn't a reflection on the product,

I have had them on 3days and they are still going strong, so im sure they will definatley last the full 7days as Nail Rock say, (upto 8weeks on toes apparentley! YES 2 months!)

I do want to take them off now though as im slightly bored and miss painting my nails already! These would be perfect for holidays as they are funky and cool and you don't have to worry about taking nail polishes, they also look fab for special events because of the unique designs.

I will be trying more and think they are a fab do-it-yourself at home alternative to minx nails quite a few companies such as Sally Hansen do these now aswell but I have yet to try other brands.

RRP £6.65 from selected Topshop, Bank, Lipsy, River Island, New look, Miss Selfridge, aswell as online at ASOS, Miss Guided and the Official Nail Rock site HERE

A Rimmel Post - Moisture Renew Lipsticks and Lycra Pro Nail Polish

So today is abit of a Rimmel post these are new products and as they are all Rimmel I thought it would be an idea to pop them all in one post, First up I have 2 lipsticks - Moisture Renew I also did a post on one of these in a Red colour called 'Rose Passion' a while back you can see that one HERE I loved the packagimg that had it was purple metallic and these are the same collection but the packaging is metallic bronze,
The two shades I have are 'Rose Bikini' and 'Summer Angel'

Rose Bikini is a shimmery coral shade with golden flecks that would look absoloutley great with a tan, and the next shade 'Summer Angel' is a very subtle but sheen-y nude beige shade again something that would look great in summer more than the winter months.
I will be wearing these on holiday when I want a natural sheer look and because they are very moisturising and light they are perfect instead of wearing a heavy lipstick that is melting down your face in the sun LOL!

Next up are 2 Rimmel Lycra Pro Nail Colours, I got 'Orange Bliss' and 'Beige Babe' I chose the orange because I have some pastel peach shades and corals but not one BRIGHT  orange now as the last one I had was a really old 'Gallery' one you might have seen a while back in my nail polish collection post and it has since gone abit gloopy so I was in need of a new orange especially as Summer is coming up, I had this on my fingers for 4 days and it rarely chipped and it's still on my toes a week on, The Next one 'Beige Babe' I picked because I love neutral/natural shades and didn't have a medium brown like this, I had alot of really nude colours but I think this is a really sophisticated colour which looks great on a night out, or even will look good in the workplace as its one of those 'safe' colours and it's not really a summer colour for me although im wearing it now, I just think I will get so much wear out of it in Autumn/Winter.

The thing I like best about these polishes and that will make me definatley be purchasing more are
  • great staying power
  • lovely glossy finish with no top coat
  • good coverage only needed 2 coats
  • applied smoothly
  • fast drying
  • has a big oval flat brush that made application so easy
Rimmel has great prices for everything and these are in lots of stores so easy to get hold of their RRP is around the £4 mark in stores like Boots/Superdrug but you can ger hold of them even cheaper if you look around online

p.s sorry I didn't get no pics of these on my lips or nails but I took these pics and then my camera went missing, i've just found it so will put these up in some NOTD (Nail of the day) and FOTD Face of the day) posts soon :-)

Ciate Paint Pots - 'Cupcake Queen'....Nails of the day! (NOTD)

Todays NOTD comes from this baby! - Ciate Paint Pots in 'Cupcake Queen'. If you haven't heard of the bran before 'Ciate' is founded by Charlotte Straughan and was born out of her own salon buisness so it's more like a professional range, It has been feautured in many high profile magazines (Such as Elle, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Grazia, Vogue, Glamour, Company and many more) they also previously teamed up with ASOS and did a range of paint pots you might have seen on their site.

This shade is a fabulous neon type hot pink with a funky irredescent hue that gives a slight shimmer, You can get all the ciate nail colours (RRP £9 which from the site in Euro and Dollars for my internation readers is about €10 and $14 as they do ship internationally) make sure you have a look at their fab website http://www.ciate.co.uk they also do a range of:
  • Hand care (Hand wash, Hand cream and Hand repair)
  •  Nail Collections (Festival Fever, Classics, Fashionista, Metallics, Nudes, Passionista, Pop & Pastels
  •  Nail Care (Top coats, Base coats, Cuticle oil, etc)
  • Acessories (Nail remover/Nail files)
  • Footcare (Foot oil, scrubs, etc)
This particular nail colour on their site is available HERE

This is my first Ciate paint pots although I have had their nail varnish remover which is great, and wow I am impressed! The long handle is great for application and it has a great flat brush, what I also loved most is that this only needed one coat, and I never get nail polishes that just need ONE coat! (All the pics have just one coat of this on aswell) I have been wearing it the past few days and still no chips, it's got a glossy finish and everyone keeps complementing me on the colour of it, plus it perfectley matched the dress I wore to my friends birthday night out this weekend (a seperate post with my outfit and make up and that night coming soon)

When it catches the light it really picks up on the shimmery hue it is which makes it a much more interesting colour than just been a flat colour, I couldn't get a much more close up of my finger than this LOL
I will definatley be picking up more Ciate Paint Pots so if anyone has any recommendations then please feel free to leave a comment below! From the look of the site I am loving 'Mojito' a lovely summery green, 'Couture Creme' a beautiful nude, and 'Skinny Jeans' a denim-y type blue, I could go on forever but you really do have to check them out, they're stunning!

My Saturday OOTN (outfit of the night) NOTN (nails of the night) and FOTN (face of the night)

So last night I got dragged out to BOUDOIR in leeds I LOVE this club it's so nice....Steve Sutherland was DJing (I went with my boyfriend who is also a resident DJ at Boudoir & he's a Steve fan LOL so off over to leeds we went). I did one of my favourite party looks.....Black eyes and Neon pink lips :)

I wore my new dress from H&M I got the other week, well I got 2 dresses, a skirt and some trousers and I also ordered 4 more bits of H&M again the other day I was going to wait and do a big H&M haul post/video but oh well i'll still do that aswell when my other bits arrive as this is the only thing I have worn.

It was such a bargain think it was like £9.99 and it's great because a) I LOVE anything animal print its the tackiness in me and b) it looks fab dressed up (I had on black tights...black shoe suede wedges and a black clutch bag) but it also will work well with flip flops and a denim jacket on the warmer days PLUS layered with leggings and a cardigan in winter!

My big baby approved of my make up (I thought i'd give him some 'blog shine' as my baby kitty you can see on 'My beauty Essentials' video on my youtube is becoming a youtube celeb & hes jealous LOL

The pic on the left was taken on the train and the pic on the right kinda shows my nail polish LOL (more about that later)

My eyeshadow was a black from a Bourjois trio which i'm loving at the moment I don't remember the exact name of it though and my lipgloss is glam shine perfectley pink mixed with a the Sleek Fuchsia that I need to stop raving about and wearing because it's getting B-ORING if I do say so but I can't help it!

My NOTN (Nails of the night LOL) was Blue Moon by Barry M I recentley bought this in the lovely AdrienneAdores blog sale and it is a lovely pale blue does take a few layers but deffo worth it.....I have worn it the past 3days & no chips I love Barry M I got abit bored today and added baby pink tips reminds me of candy/ice cream LOL

Bit messy on the application as the Blue Moon I put on in a rush the other day & the pink tips need a very steady hand LOL but was abit of fun for the day!

Anyway hope everyone else has had a fab weekend :)

Pretty in Pink......Pink eyeshadow FOTD with a Turquoise NOTD

So I decided to randomly do a pink look for when I ventured out this weekend, Because I was wearing quite a simple outfit (Black dress) I wouldn't normally wear bright and I don't think I have ever worn pink eyeshadow LOL,

I picked up a few Products in Superdrug one was a lovely fuschia lipstick from the MUA range (shade 3) this is me the night before before I went bowling just trying it out (here it was teamed with the Lilac eyes I had been wearing all day) {Click pics to enlarge}

It is much more pinker in person so anyway here is the finished product of my 'Pink Look' using this lipstick these 2 pics were with flash and the rest are just in natural lighting if it looks slightly different....

I started by doing all the usual steps (foundation, concealer, eyebrows) I will post all the products at the end, and then used a medium pink first (all Manly 120 pallette but any pinks work) just over my lid and slightly shaded out, I then used a deep purple on my waterline with an angled brush even though you can't see that colour really well
Then I wanted a brighter pop of colour so used a really bright pink which as you can see from the brush is nearly neon I blended this in the outer corner 'V'

I did also use a very light shimmery pink on my browbone, to highlight and added a top line of liquid eyeliner and black mascara
For the lips I used the fuschia MUA lipstick I mentioned before and a Sleek Pout Polish in 'Pink Cadillac' which adds abit of gloss and conditions lips as this particular shade of MUA lipstick I found wasn't as creamy as a few others I have
I HAD to team it with these fantastic feather earrings I have I love these my mum bought them me at the end of last year,
I used no bronzing powder as I thought it would be too OTT and just a girly pink blush to finish
I tried to get some pics of the night so I could do an outfit post too.....BUUUUT it was one of them nights were I couldn't get a nice photo of me and Ash and he made me stop after a few failed attempts LOL

My nails were Sleek NAILED 'Turqouise' thats not me on the night it was a pic I had from when I had it on last weekend and thought it showed how bright it was as thats in a pretty dark club......yesterday I added some felt tip marker pen dots which I alwaaaays used to love doing to my nails when I was bored at school LOL it really didn't last as soon as I washed my hands a few times but it was fun to do and looked kinda cute!

Heres the full list of products I used:
FACE:
  • Rimmel 25hr foundation (shade 201)
  • Benefit IT stick
  • Bourjois Little Blush Pot (rose d'or)

EYES:
  • Manly 120 pallette for main colours
  • Benefit Lemon Aid eye primer
  • Rimmel professional eyebrow pencil
  • Barry M black mascara
  • Collection 2000 felt tip liner
  • Maybelline mono shadow 'Delicate rose' to highlight
LIPS:
  • MUA shade 3
  • Sleek Pout polish 'Pink Cadillac'

Hope everyone has had a fab weekend
Vikki xoxo
